Hello,

I am unable to connect through MaxDB Database Manager GUI tool to the MaxDB Instance. The MaxDB instance is up and running.

When I to into click Add Servers Database Instances and -> type the Database server name and click Add, I am getting error as "-4 could not connect to socket [ 10060]

Question 1: How can I resolve the error?

Question 2: Is there any documentation, notes, URL on how to use MaxDB Gui tools such as Database Manager, dbmgui etc.

Question 3: Is there any documentation, notes, URL on how to use MaxDB command lines tools, dbmcli etc.,?

Question 4: Can anyone provide me the checklist/ URL of all the dmcli commands?

Thanks,

Haleem

Hello Haleem,

What version of the DBMGUI are you using?

Could you ping or telnet to the database server from the DBMGUI server?

Please see the document "Using the MaxDB X Server Behind a Firewall" in "SAP MaxDB Library 7.6"

< Basic Information -> MaxDB Security Guide -> Network and Communication Security >

On Question 1:

I think that it's a firewall-issue. Please check that you server < DBMGUI >

and the database server in the same network.

On Question 2:

For SAP MAXDB documentation see the SAP note 767598.

http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/default.htm -> Tools -> Database Manager GUI

On Question 3:

http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/default.htm -> Tools -> Database Manager CLI

On Question 4:

You could run 'dbmcli help'.

http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/default.htm -> Tools -> Database Manager CLI -> Overview of All DBM Commands

You could see more information in "SAP MaxDB Library 7.6" &

MAXDB home in forum :: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hello ,

1 - check that is run X_server

On Linux : x_server start

On Windows : net start x_server

2 - restart DBMGUI
