Oracle 9i to 10.2 non-unicode upgrade?

Hi all,

We are planning on performing an upgrade from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10.2 on our core ERP systems.

We have previously done the upgrade on our advanced app servers which are UNICODE.

The systems which we are attempting to upgrade now are NON-UNICODE. Do we need a different media set of Oracle or are there any significant differences when performing this upgrade on a non-unicode system?

I read through the most current SAP Upgrade Guide and the Oracle Upgrade guide but I did not see anything specific except one reference to the system using the UTF8 character set.

Any insight into this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Ben,

> Do we need a different media set of Oracle

No, the installation media is the same.

The character set definition (Unicode/Non-Unicode) is a parameter which you specify by the CREATE DATABASE sql statement .. it has nothing todo with the RDBMS software itself.

The same answer as above.

Stefan
