Communiation between Non-Unicode-Sap system and unicode-SAP-system via XI

Hi,

we have a non-unicode XI-System with a non-unicode ERP 2005-System in the back.

Now, we wanna send/receive <b>mails and files</b> via XI to/from different partners. These partners are using unicode-SAP-systems.

Does anyone has experiences with unicode/non-unicode communication via xi?

Do we get problems?

Thanks

Bye

Wolfgang

We have a non-unicode R/3 Enterprise System and Unicode XI so I guess we went though this process...

We had to set up specific unicode and non unicode destinations in the Java Admin Console and SM59 for the following:

AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER

AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER

LCRSAPRFC

SAPSLDAPI

Basically in java admin console we have eight entries. 4 for unicode and four non-unicode.

These were to configure using Abap Proxies from sender system.

There were no issues with posting XML documents into/from SAP through XI without these connections.

Works perfectly now....

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I still have 2 Questions:

Do we need these entries (these destinations) if we don't use Abap proxies?

I could not find any documentation about this subject - do you have one?

I'm not sure to be honest. We had to create these entries so that our R/3 Enterprise (6.20 - non-unicode system) could communciate with our XI3.0 (6.40 unicode system)

We had a call open with SAP for 3 months to resolve this.

If you are just passing info through - Sender > XI > Receiver, I don't think you need these entries. Mostly to do with accessing the SLD.
