Dear Gurus:
We get the requirement to rebuild a livecache for clients.
Could you direct me to some blogs since I am new in this area? Thanks!
Hello Linda Li ,
1) The helpful links to start:
www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache
< It has also link to Best Practices for Solution Management: mySAP SCM , review the documents. >
and SAP link:
service.sap.com/scm -> Technology
2) Please ask more details about your project ::
The version of the system;
The liveCache version;
Do you need to build the new system?
Do you need to create the System copy?
The liveCache data are corrupted & the backup/recovery is not possible.
What liveCache application did you run < or will run > on the system.
3) Also review the SAP notes::
886103 System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM
457425 Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore
632357 Backing up liveCache data for SCM 4.0 or higher
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hello Linda,
1) test DR for LC, and
< I assumed, that DR is Disaster Recovery >
-> Please review the SAP notes:
1377148 FAQ: SAP MaxDB backup/recovery
952783 FAQ: MaxDB high availability
820824 FAQ: SAP MaxDB/liveCache technology
-> Please see the document "Backup and Recovery for SAP APO (3.x) / mySAP SCM (4.x)" at
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache
< go to Best Practices for Solution Management: mySAP SCM >
-> Please explain more detailed, what kind of a disaster you think of?
Then we could think about the liveCache recovery plan.
2) "clone an LC to another LC name."
I assumed, that you need to create the clone of the liveCache instance,
the target liveCache will have the different liveCache name.
Please follow the notes:
for Homogenous liveCache copy ::
457425 Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore
for Heterogeneous liveCache copy ::
632357 Backing up liveCache data for SCM 4.0 or higher
Please see documents in the Maxdb wiki at http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/MaxDB/Main
< go to SAP MaxDB HowTo then section "Backup / Recovery" >, one of the documents is
"HowTo - Creating a clone of a SAP MaxDB database".
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
