MDM 5.5 SP 6 Implementation Steps

HI All,

Can somebody provide the steps for implementing and configuring MDM 5.5 SP6 with ECC 6.0, BI 7.0 and EP 7.0 ?

Any document or PDF explaining the steps would be really helpful...

Also, How to configure to extract data into MDM...

MDM Console offers numerous monitoring options for realtime information of MDM Server and Repository status.Details as in the reference guide link mentioned above.

Generally data gets transferred between MDM and other remote systems(Eg.ECC,Legacy systems,etc).In Such a scenario XI is leveraged as a Middleware for exchanging data between two heterogeneous systems.

Q.Also, please provide me the MDM Administrator duties...

MDM Admin will generally perform Repository Maintainence, Server Administration,MDM Server Administration,MDSS and MDIS Administration.

Could you please brief the points on the main differences between MDM 7.1 and MDM 5.5

It looks like MDM doesn't use RFC for communication..if yes, why ?

How is it communicating with SAP and Non-SAP products ? Methods etc..

Hi Addy,

Sorry,I missed to answer your second question along with the first -

MDM product is designed for consolidate-cleanse-distribute master data with heterogeneous systems.Interaction with external systems is designed to work through import and syndication.

Handling RFC independently by MDM is not possible in MDM as this is not a product feature.

However,within Netweaver, Integration of MDM with external systems(SAP and Non-SAP) can be achieved using supportive component like Process Integration(PI) for data exchange between heterogeneous systems. RFC can be effectively leveraged at PI interface for necessary functions.

In addition, external systems can interact with MDM using -

Web Services(Web based systems)

Java API(SAP and Non SAP systems) and

ABAP APIs(SAP Systems)

Each of these have its specific method to interact with MDM.
