Sapgui java applet: direct client connection to the SAP server ?

Hello all,

I have setup a web server with java sapgui applet. It works fine on the LAN: ie or mozilla client load the java gui applet and can access to the SAP server.

When I try this from somewhere else than the LAN (from internet for example), ie or mozilla client load correctly the java gui applet but they cannot get connection to SAP server (because the SAP server cannot be reached directly from internet). It is as if the java gui applet in the ie client trys to communicate directly with the SAP server without going through the web servers that publishes the applet.

Is that the normal way for the java gui applet to work ?

Does the applet make a direct connection to the SAP server ? if yes can it be changed to to throuth the web server or do I have to setup a saprouter (or a sap webdispatcher ) to tell the applet to connect to it which will connect to the SAP server ?

My goal is to provide SAP access from anywhere (internet) with only a web browser (only http access allowed for the client) and the java gui applet.

Many thanks in advance for your advices.

Emmanuel
