Table Structure provided by SAP for Customer/Vendor

Hi All,

We will be using Customer/vendor Business Content shipped by SAP.We will customize it to add our additonal fields needed. The table has close to 120 fields. So does it impact performance in any way.Ideally we would like to leave fields as it is ,and add ours.We want to avoid deleting the fields which we are not using currently.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Premjit

Hi Premjit,

Keeping the existing table and fields will be the good option at least till the system get stable in production environment...

If you are planning to use the Import and syndication maps from standard content for loading reference and cut-over data...

Then better you don't touch any of the existing field and table in the standard content...

Because any changes in the existing fields and table will damage standard maps... and this will lead to a big pain while loading reference and cut-over data before going live... that's what our experience says...

Premjit, we hav done the same thing with our system and have not experienced any performance issues. We added many fields and there are currently about 400 in one of our repositories. Searching/importing/syndicating still run very efficiently, but to Vinay's point, it does make it harder to navigate in Data Manager.

Hi Premjith,

An Optimized Data model Should have below features:

1.Contains limited num of tables and Fields

2.Is easy to navigate in Data manager

3.Is free of work arounds

4.Shows good performance during import and syndication

5.Shows good performance during search and maintainence

Additional tables and fields will definitely have impact on above points.

Suggest you retain only those tables/fields in your data model that are in scope of business.
