SAP TechEd 2010 EMEA?!?!

Hi there,

These are the last minutes on SAP TechEd 2009 EMEA / Vienna. One thing has changed in comparison to the last years: No TechEd 2010 EMEA was announced (normally, it was announced with date and place at the end of the key note in the last years). Also the internet does not show up anything, nor exists any thread on SDN so far about it (so at least now one can find a thread if searching for "teched 2010" ).

I can't imagine / won't hope that this missing information means ... (can't speak it out...)?!?!

Best regards

Detlev

Hi Detlev,

Sorry to cause you any undue worry. Indeed we are planning to have an SAP TechEd 2010 in EMEA. In fact, we met earlier today with representatives from the expected venue to finalize some details in the arrangements. We have not annouced city and dates because we are finalizing arrangements now.

Look for an announcement in the coming few weeks!

Best regards,

Chip

Hi Everybody,

according to the travel plans of Mark Yolton who stays in Berlin, Germany from Oct 10 - Oct 15, 2010 I think Berlin as the location for the EMEA TechEd would be a good guess?

I don't believe in those dates, as this would be just a week ahead of the Las Vegas TechEd. Usually their logistics need a minimum of two weeks.

Worldwide dates actually are:

Europe: October

Las Vegas: October 18-22

Bangalore: November 17-19

Shanghai: December 1-2

Yes! You are correct. And apologies for not coming back to this thread. We announced Berlin yesterday on [Twitter |http://www.twitter.com/sapteched]and in the Mentor forum, but had not posted here.

This will be a new experience for the EMEA event. It's the first time EMEA will be ahead of the US event. We're excited about it and expecting a great event.

Also, correct that EMEA and US events will be on back-to-back weeks. We thought this might be a challenge, but we've confirmed with our speakers and IT teams that the timing will work fine.

Finally, note that we will be in the [Berlin South Congress buildings |http://www1.messe-berlin.de/vip8_1/website/Internet/Internet/www.icc-berlin/englisch/Further_Locations/index.html]and not in the ICC building where TechEd was located in 2008.

Hi Chip,

thank you for the official update. But why is the EMEA TechEd only 3 days and the US 5 days?

Best regards

Hi Gregor,

The dates announced for Las Vegas and Berlin can be deceiving. In reality, in reality, both events are three days long, with Las Vegas extending a little longer on Friday. Allow me to explain it: the only activity planned for the first day in the Las Vegas (Monday Oct 18) would be a late afternoon general session featuring a guest speaker, as we have offered in 2007 and 2008. This type of "one-hour stand alone session" only makes sense in Las Vegas, where most attendees are already staying at the hotel within the venue an would show up to see the session (note that we did offer the late Monday stand-alone session in Phoenix 2009). On the other end of the event date annouced for Las Vegas (Friday Oct 22), we offer a limited number of sessions and only until Noon. So while it is true that looking at the dates published one would think that Las Vegas is 5-days long and Berlin only 3-days long, the two events are very similar in length. Lastly, but not less important, we are currently looking at agenda options that will allow us to incorporate/offer a guest speaker in Berlin 2010, so the programs offers the same value and is as comparable as possible with Las Vegas. Stay tuned for these announcements during the Summer.
