MAXDB service is not starting

Former Member

Hi Colleagues.

I have installed the MAXDB database and it was working fine.

Suddenly I face a strange issue. The MAXDB:CE1 Service is not starting at all.

If I navigate to the services in the control panel, I could see the status of this service (MAXDB:CE1) is "Starting".

The startup Type for this service is "Automatic" and hence it is not starting.

What could be the problem? Can anyone help on this issue?

Thanks

Bala

Hi,

maybe your log is full and therefore the database cannot start properly?

Hi Hannes.

How to check whether the log is full?

Thanks

Hi,

two ways:

1) dbmcli -d CE1 -u control, db_state -v

2) Use the Database Studio to check the current status of MaxDB

If the log is full use the log backup method to create a backup of the log data and then everything should run smoothly. If the data area is full, you will have to extend the database with another data volume. How to do this can be found in the documentation.

Hi Andre.

Im not able to login to my SQL Studio as well, as Im not sure of my username and password?

Is there any default user name and password which MAXDB supports?

Thanks

Usually you may use the control user:

username: control

password: control

Instead of the SQL Studio you should use the DB Studio or the command line tool dbmcli.

Hello Bala,

-> What is the database version?

-> Please update with output of the commands:

sdbregview -l

dbmcli inst_enum

dbmcli db_enum -s

xinstinfo CE1

x_cons CE1 show active

dbmcli -d CE1 -u <dbm-user>,<pwd> info log

-> "Is there any default user name and password which MAXDB supports?"

Please see the document at MAXDB Library
