Hi all,

My SAP system is running with AS ABAP only with CI + DB Oracle 10.2.0.2.0

Aix 5.3 & Orc 10.2.0.2.0 .. <SID> --- <ABC>

Now I am planing to Setup DR server which replicate of my PRD server time to time in remote location & i have few questons

My basic understanding is that Secondary server will be in Stand by mode where my arcive logs are shipped & applied

-

What is the SID that can be used on secondary server .. for ex- if my Primary server is ABC , Can i use the same there- think not possible ...i am not sure

What is the distance recommended to setup my secondary.. Is there any standard recommondation for that

What Script is used to ship my Archive logs for every 30 minutes through FTP. Is there any standard

Do i need to use any third party tools. If yes please recommend

What is Internet Bandwidth required to ship my logs

Plesae advice me on the following & share any links or documents that can help me in acheiving this ....

Thnaks & Regards,

rahul

Hi,

Create file system same as PRD.

Install SAP with same SID & SCHEMA.

Take offline backup of PRD & Restore to DR.

Keep DR Database at mount condition.

Copy archive logs to DR

Apply logs.

AIX administrator will arrange shell scripting to AUto log copy a .sh file & tell him to schedule to run that script after every 30 mins in back ground.

HI...

SID should be same as per the production, and also better if you have same server configuration

Distance may be vary, you can keep your DR any where in the world, but take care of the connectiviy from user perspective and log shipping perspective.

You should have enough band width for synchronization.

2Mbps link works fine for log size of 50MB

No need to gor any third party tools, you can use/enable oracle dataguard

But you May not get any support for standby databaser from SAP.

Take care
