CRM 5.0 not booting up after IP Address change to Static

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi Experts:

I really hope that you can help me out with this.

We had/have a CRM 5.0 system, we changed its IP from Dynamic to Static (that went fine). We rebooted the system up (that also went fine)

The next morning we noticed that some of the processes were showing red (in SAP MMC). We waited on that hoping that it would resolve it self.

HOwever, till early evening, the system was still showing red processes. So, we decided to reboot the system up. HOwever, the dispatcher is not starting up. Essentially none of the java applications (SDM, Dispatcher, and Server) are starting up.

I have opened up a ticket with SAP, and they beleive that the issue is with Oracle Listener as that is refusing to recognize the SID from our SAP system.

Since then I have turned off the static IP and tried restarting the CI, but still it continues to give the same error.

During the Disp+Work.exe start up protocol...it continues to show "J2EE status info unavailable".

Have any of you encountered something like this in regards to NetWeaver 2004s or anyother SAP application.

Any help would be appreciated.....

Imran

There could be a few different issues that are causing the problem. The old IP address might still reside in the resolver cache. Open up a command propmt and type in: ipconfig -flushdns and try to restart the instance. If the instance still does not restart, post the trace file. In the MMC, right click on the red process and select Developer Trace.

Hi Paritosh:

Usually, it is not suppose to give you any problems after an IP change. Ours was giving us problems because another member of our group had installed another SAP product on the server, and listener was pointing towards this new product. So, i suggest that you look at tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files, make sure that they ar pointing towards the correct DB.

Also, monitor the start up process to see where is it that it exactly decides to stop. That could provide you with a clue as to what the issue is.

Also have a look at the host file.

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file"

Hostname & domain name together is the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) Name

I hope this helps you out.

Ok, sounds like you are in good hands now. I have an inkling that during the install it converted the hostname to a IP address and stored it somewhere in the properties files. Now that you changed the IP it can not find the DB. If you know the old IP address you might want to try to search the file contents for the address.

HI Sean:

That seems to be in line with what SAP is saying. Essentially, they have said that the Oracle Listener is not recoginizing the SID of the SAP system. I have a note open with them, hopefully they'll have a solution.

WE installed the CRM on Oracle 10g.

CRM is running the latest SP level (I think 6 or 7). But i finished updating that on May 12th.

It is based on NW2004s architecture kernel release 700.

It uses both AS-ABAP and AS-JAVA. We also installed EP 7.0 as well so we could integrate both CRM and 7.0 as well.

We are actually a ramp up partner for CRM 5.0 So, thats how we got our hands on it.

It looks like the J2EE is having a problem connecting to the DB. What are the specifics of the installation CRM 5.0 SPx? Also, what DB and DB version are you utilizing.

BTW, how did you get CRM 5.0 before the rest of us?

In the following file directory you will find some trace files. Look through them and post a few errors (don't post the whole file as it can be quite long). Also, does your system have multiple NIC's? Run a ipconfig /all.

HI Shaun:

I have tried what you had suggested, but still no luck.

J2EE table is still empty and is not loading up any of the three applications. It also continues to say "J2EE status info unavailable"

I tried the ipconfig command and the restart of various Oracle and SAP related services, but still no luck.

I had a error similar to this a couple of time and what it turns out to be is that one or all of the services get into a inconsistant state. So try this

1) Stop the CRM instance

2) Go to Start >> All Program >> Adminsitrative Tools >> Services.

3) Restart each of the services: SAPOSCOL, SAPCRM_00, SAPCRM_01 (SAPCRM_xx might differ on your system)

4) Now start up the CRM instance

HI Shaun:

Thanks for your reply, however it is still giving the same error. As requested I am attaching the trace file:
