Hi ALL,
I wish to create blocks on a production rsource as follows,
class- chemistry
characteristics- chem1, chem2, chem3,chem4
when PPDS plans for products with chemistry chem1, the planned orders should be created in the block chem1 and so on, so that similar chemistry products are planned together in the time axis
I wish to know if this type of planning is possible. I welcome everones inputs.
Thanks
Vardev,
Yes the block planning is respected with standard lots heuristic. Make sure that the strategy profile has 'Consider' Block planning.
Class 018 does not get CIFed, but the characteristics in the class do. So do it, even if you see failure of class, you will get the characteristics coming in APO. Then taking the same chars, create the class type 400.

Bart,
In PDS, you do not need to activate the char prop manually.

If you want the orders to be created in the correct blocks, you need to activate the characteristic propagation in the PPM. Assign the class and the correct charact. to the PPM and the orders will be created in the correct block, even if you run a normal lotsize heuristic.

Vardev,
You need to do the following -
1. Classify the routing with class type 018. CIF the chars to APO, though the class is non transferable
2. Activate the block planning by activating the BADI CUSLNTRTO_ADDIN in ECC
3. Create the class type 400 in APO and assign it to resource in model independent version. Make sure your class 400 and 018 have the same chars
4. Create the blocks on the classified resource in version 000
5. Do the initial transfer of PDS
With this you can start the block planning.

Hi Vardev,
The planning in PPDS happens as per the demand qty and date.
The demand checks the product characteristics and starts
assign in the capacity blocks that you have defined in the block
basis definition and assign for the material class.
Say for eg, for a daily bucket of 100, let us say there is demand of
25 in chem1, chem2, chem3 and chem4 for the material class
chemistry, each 25 will get occupied in their blocks at a
stretch.
Say another eg, for a daily bucket of 100, if there is demand for
10 for chem1, 15 for chem2, 0 for chem3, 15 for chem4, then
each block will get assigned with the capacity demand accordingly
and since there is no demand for chem3 characterisitcs, chem4
will get pushed to the previous buckets
Hope it is clear now. Please confirm

Hi Senthil,
Thanks for the reply and I believe this is same as my requirement, except that I am looking for a 55 week block. I will be interested to know how we can set up this, using what type of class? how the heuristics recognize product characteristic with block definition characteristic? can I use the std PP lot sizing heuristics?
Thanks in advance
