Hi,
I have an idea of creating an automatically generated FAQs on SDN
and would like to hear your opinions about that.
every question asked on SDN forums has a number of views assigned to it
maybe we would be able to create TOP20 or TOP30 automatically generated questions
on the basis of that for each forum for different periods of time?
my proposal would be like that:
1. take first 20 or 30 questions with highest number of views
and put them on the FAQ page which would be have link from every forum
(to the appropriate FAQ)
2. update this once per week/month
3. notify moderators to check if any "dummy" or not relevant questions
apperaed on the list os they can be removed and replaced with some other from the list
this can be done in the same way as with Top Contributors -
one FAQ for total (from 2004)
and one - most popular questions in the last 30 or 60 days for example
the reasons to create this:
- this way people can get familiarized with the latest issues
without asking on the forum easily (this could be distributed via RSS)
- people wouldn't have to write blogs about relatively easy things if
they are described in the question/ forum post
- all new issues could be recognized very quickly - FAQs generated from last 30-60 days only
what do you think about this idea?
Thank you,
Michal Krawczyk
I think it's a good idea. I'd love to see a way to DIGG up threads too. This is close.

Hi
That would be really great.
Agree with all your thoughts.
In my opinion, the FAQ needs to be powered by a powerful software, so that updation is automatic.
Also, it should have a feature, to accept User generated questions.
Lastly, there could be a Feedback Tools Link, which is almost a must for FAQ set up.

Hi Michal,
Together with some gurus (e.g. Top Contributors) for the ABAP and NW Security forum areas I do exactly this, except it is not automatic.
If it were automatic, the FM to find the date and how to built SAP_ALL without SPRO questions would win hands-down...
Cheers,
Julius

Why don't we put something together for the DemoJam next year?
Idea: A not-yet-thought-about-but-soon-will-do recognition application integrated with the ABAP editor's syntax check, syslog, short-dumps, update terminations, etc etc which brings an SDN RSS feed forward automatically with the FAQ information relating to the error or warning as it happens , and then of course sends it to your boss' iPhone.
Cheers,
Julius
