EHP4 sp upgrade using SAINT?

We upgraded our ABAP only ER6.0 server to EHP4 sp3 using the EHPI tool. Now we want to upgrade to EHP4 sp4. I really liked the SAINT tool using the STACK xml file to upgrade our Solution Manager stack. I also liked using the xml file to upgrade j2ee servers. I'm not a big fan of transaction SPAM. . Can we use generate a stack xml file and use transaction SAiNT to go from SP to SP inside an enhancement pack for ABAP systems.? Or do I still have to use SPAM for going from sp to sp inside an enhancement pack?

I can't find any sap docs on this question.

Carl,

SAINT and SPAM have diffrent functionality.

For applying the Base package or Add-on (This would be SP00, for understanding) you use SAINT.

For upgrading the version of these base packages (SP01 to SPnn) you use SPAM.

You cannot use SAINT to upgrade the versions of already existing bas packages.

Hi,

Well, for EHP4 you have to use EHPInst. No more SPAM/SAINT possible (except if your system is still 32 bit).

EHPInst uses the same technolmogy as a SAP release upgrade (shadow instance).

I am not agreeing to your point. If you want to install EHP4 SP3 to EHP4 SP4 then you can use SPAM/JSPM to install the packages.

EHPI tool is used to install base packages.

This is what SAP has suggested.

Agreed, I understood that the OP wanted to install EHP4 which is not the case.

Installing Support Packages is of course done with SPAM.
