java server "Server 0" not running

Hi All,

i did installation of ECC 6.0 on windows 2003 64 bit, DB MS SQL server 2005 yesterday. installation was successful completed . then after i restart server from OS side. now while start of SAP server from MMC , Server 0 (Java server) is not getting start.(its restart automatically)

This installation having both ABAP + Java Stack.

i tried to to resolve by increase /decrease of Heap size from config. tool but not any success. still java stack not running.

please look into pasted log details and advise.

are you saying the java server is restarting itself ?

If so it is to do with an Java memory issue....Check out relevant SAP notes on specific java memory settings.

Hi Mark,

It seems restart automatically , inside MMC "As Java process Table" server0 shows restarts 15 . in between next count if i try to access http://hostname:50500, some time i am able to access index page but after 2-3 min its start showing

503 Service Unavailable

SAP J2EE Engine/7.00

Application stopped.

Details: You have requested an application that is currently stopped

so i guess its restarted itself. as you advice for java memory issue , can you please let me know any specific sap note

Check your settings for parameters like heap memory, Xms etc. Please check Note 723909 - Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0for more details.

Also check dev_bootstrap

What is HW configuration, if there is any memory issues you will be getting the information in std_server0.out file.

And also heap size should not be more than 2.5 GB.

And also try rebooting the server once.

I believe for 32 bit platform max size is 2 GB. If you have any other info/link please let me know.

Hw config. is as below:-

RAM 8 GB, HDD : 500GB , CPU: Intel Xeone 2.5 Ghz 64 bit , OS : windows 2003 ent. server 64 bit. Virtual memory 40 GB.

Current Heap Size : 1024 MB.

also i notice that , if i leave server for 4-5 hours after reboot then server0 turns in green(java start working), in restart section of SAP MMC no. of count 15 or more .

i installed ECC 2 days back , after installtion facing this issue . also dont think license may cause such type of error.

Thanks for all kind help. problem solved by change java memory parameters in config tool .

Heap Size 2 GB

-Xmx 2048m -Xms2048m

For dispatcher nodes : 256m

-XX:NewSize=341m -XX:MaxNewSize=341m

Its for 64 Bit machines.
