MII Netweaver Server stopped due to CPIC connection Problem

Dear Experts,

We have SAP XMII 12.0 setup running on Netweaver 2004s,7.0, Java Stack only.

We have high availability environment, where N1 acts as active node and Server N2 as failover node. We are facing this CPIC connection problem and SAP OSS adviced us to increase its value. Current value was 2000 and now we have increased it to 5000. We have not more than 100 concurrent users, still 2000 connections are getting exhausted. We are facing this error only when either of the server is down, i.e. if r/3 server or Netweaver server.

When we restart Netweaver, we found that CPIC connection count is reaching to 2000 and failing server to be functional. We would like to know what is the source which is triggering these connection so fast, which in turn is not letting the server to come up.

Waiting for the reply.

Thanks and regards,

Pradnya

Do you, by any chance, have any active Message Listener(IDOC Listener) , that you are not using. That might be an issue for all these Active Sessions.

If you do then STOP the listener and check if that makes any difference.

Dear Udayan,

Thanks for reply.

We do have idocs in our batch jobs. When we disable batch job and restart the server we do not see the connection attemp. This is an ideal scenario. In case of sudden shut down of the server how to disablet these jobs?

Along with this I am having so many questions.

u2022 How does MII 12.0 HA environment handle Message Listener R/3 connections both during start-up

process and when failing over from primary N1 to secondary N2 node?

u2022 Is there a way to configure the MII 12.0 environment to make the message listener service always a manual

start-up?

u2022 When starting up MII 12.0 HA environment are message listener connections established with R/3

between both primary N1 and secondary N2? Is secondary N2 connection established in a wait status in the

event of failover?

u2022 How does MII 12.0 HA handle message listener requests already in process when failover happens?

u2022 Does MI 12.0 HA automatically activate the N2 Message Listener connection upon failover and should all

current data and processes automatically port to N2?

u2022 When MII 12.0 high availability environment start-up process is triggered is there a recommended procedure

to prevent all batch jobs from starting up immediately upon MII 12.0 startup?

u2022 As per situation it is not really feasible to have to immediately go in and manually disable all batch jobs individually.

u2022 How does MII 12.0 HA environment handle batch jobs that are in process at the time of failover?

What is the recommended process for analyzing status of jobs in process when failover occurs to

ensure successful processing?

Waiting for reply.

Thanks and regards,

Do you have JCO action blocks in your transactions that produce errors in your NW logs? Do you see rfc trace error files on your server's file system (files something like: rfc08708_41960.trc).

I would recommend investigating the error logs to see what might be contibuting to the increasing connections (looks like they are not being disconnected or recycled for whatever reason).

Dear Jeremy,

Thanks for reply.

As per your answer could you please let us know how to check whether connections are getting reused or not?

What will be the status of these connections in the case of failover?

Will those connection will retain or get transferred automatically to Failover node?

Waiting for your help.

Thanks and regards,
