How to find the root cause for job cancelled.

Hi All,

I have a job which runs on daily basis. This job is getting cancelled due to the object locked by user *****

The log is as follows

Message class Message No Message type

00 516 S - job started

00 550 S - Step 001 started

MC 601 E - object requested is currently locked by user *****

00 564 A - job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE

Please Advise me how to find the root cause.

Bhaskar ,

it seems that this is customer job i.e. Z job & not SAP standard job.

As per logs described by you this job is calling a object which is not yet realesed or still development is going on. Please check with the owner of job & ask him to release the object.

Hi Bhaskar,

Please check if same job is scheduled at same time might be some time earlier with the ID with which it is showing in the log as locked by. If it so then change the job timing.

Also, check for lock entries in SM12 with that user which is show in the log, might be object is locked and not released by the time job is running. If object is locked in SM12 log off the user so that lock gets released. Even after logging off if lock is not removed then delete the lock entry from sm12, but make sure that particular user is not logged in the system at that time.
