for every 30 minutes ,

Does it release space automatically? Or how can it refill after 30 minutes?

Can you do this:

cd /usr/sap/<SID>/JC01
du -k | sort -n

This will show you where the space is used, if you cannot see it yourself, then post the last 20 lines of the output here.

Cheers Michael

Formatting would have been nice though

1470012 ./j2ee/cluster/server0/log/archive
1665496 ./j2ee/cluster/server1/log/archive
1681300 ./SDM/root/origin/sap.com
1730984 ./j2ee/cluster/server0/log
1856844 ./j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com
1878272 ./j2ee/cluster/server0/apps
1927368 ./j2ee/cluster/server1/log
2929664 ./SDM/root/origin
2931364 ./SDM/root
3314792 ./SDM
3881168 ./j2ee/cluster/server1
3943000 ./j2ee/cluster/server0
8094976 ./j2ee/cluster
9156032 ./j2ee
12878604 .

This lists the space used per directory, for example the j2ee folder is 9gb and ./j2ee/cluster/server0 has 4gb. You will have to run the command, when the filessystem is full. But from the output above it is already clear, that you host a total of 3.5gb of logs (server1/log + server0/log). Read this post on how to change the log size independent from log levels:

The content of the log/archive directories can be deleted, if you don't need the old logs anymore. Of course this is not an explanation why the filesystem is getting full from time to time. Remember to do the check, when the fs is full. You might as well check, if you can find big files at that time (>100mb)

 find /usr/sap/<SID>/JC01 -size +100000000c -exec ls -l {} \;

Check - /usr/sap/SID/JC01/cluster/server0/log/archive/ and /usr/sap/SID/JC01/cluster/server1/log/archive/

These directories contains the archives of defaulttrace files.

The reason why this directory is getting full is because there is some error in your syste, which is constantly creating new 'defaulttrace' files and archiving the old ones.

Check the defaultrace files for this error and correct it.

Then your trace files wont be updated that fast.

This is the best way to resolve this issue.

If you want to ignore the real error and just resolve this problem, then follow the link in above post and turn OFF archiving of logs.

Hi Anil

Where to check changes in the log severity in JAVA Stack ,and how to identify the unwanted files which are occupying space in the java system, ?
