We have several upgrades for ECC5.0->ECC6.0, CRM4.0 ->CRM7.0, etc.
We have heard that SM7.0 can support the upgrade but do not know how.
Would you please share your experience? Blogs and links are highly appreciated.
Best regards!
HI Linda,
You can run your upgrade project through Solution Manager system 7.0. Create an updgrade project from solar_project_admin and you can use this for all phases included in ur project.
For the road map for upgrade poject, please refer:
https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/upgraderoadmap
Also find the upgrade tools provided by Solman there.
Refer course SMI310 for more details.

1) Would you please detail how to do above?
2) Can we do our upgrade without using SM7.0 as you said , i.e. ONLY use SM7.0 for
a) get solman key from SM7.0;
b) download patches from MOPZ in SM7.0?
Thanks a lot!
Hi Linda,
Please check the below blog to find the details about creating a project. Select Upgrade project as your project type.
This is not mandatory for doing any upgrade. You can always restrict the use of your solman for the creating key and maintenance optimizer function only.

Hi Linda,
Solution Manager is very important in upgrade. because of following reasons:
1) You need solman key from there.
2) You need to download patches from MOPZ in solman and for that your system information in SMSY should be upto date.
Also, you check all this in upgrade guide which you can find on SMP.
Thanks
Sunny
