hi All,
currently i'm just finished my installation for CI and DB in the different server, but i'm having an error when i'm trying to run brtools in the CI Server using <SID>adm user, but if i running in DB Server it works fine, is there any step i must do to prevent the error run in Central Instance? thanks.
Best Regards
Hariyono
Hi,
There is maybe some parameter or profile related issue may be because of this you are not able to run the BRTOOLS but i also had the same issue with my server and i got the solution here.. You also try this will definitely work for you..
If not, please update here, we would glad to help you.

hi All,
the question is answered now :
- brtools only can run in database instance not in application instance
- to able run the job in db13 we need to adjust the job below
a. set the DEFAULT.PFL -> SAPDBHOST = DATABASE HOSTNAME
b. Install the gateway instance or Dialog Instance at database instance
c. try to create the job in DB13 so that is can automatically generate the RFC to database Instance sapxpg_XXX_dbhostname and make sure you fill the gateway hostname and gateway service for the RFC after that do a test connection.
d. create a backup job again (this time is will successfull)

Hi,
Am I reading your message correctley, are you saying the CI and DB are on different servers ?
If so, how are you bridging the communication e.g. mapping the drive ?

hi Sunny,
i check the link you give to me, is said that brtools must always run on the database instance, i'm not sure about this since currently not only brtools run fail on instance server but my all my DB13 job also fail from sap server, check the error below is the log from checkdb (DB13)

Hi
It is correct that brtools would only run on database server. So your question that brtools not running from CI server is not valid.
As for DB13 jobs to run, DB13 takes database server's location from destination SAPXPG_DBDEST_<DBHOST>
Look in SM59 and verify that database server details are maintained out there.
Also, do you have additional instance on database server? If no, then you will need to install a separate gateway instance on that server to enable RFC communication.
After that, refer to note below for additional work. Your all problems will be solved (Hopefully )
Note 446172 - SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE (program_start_error) in DB13

hi Javed,
i try install the dialog instance in my database instance as a gateway for my oracle database, now the connection for SAPXPG_DBDEST_ was working in sm59, but when i try to run the db13 (database check) the error still persist, check the error below, is there something i miss out?

Hi
I doubt that you have maintained SAPXPG_DBDEST_ parameters correctly. You should choose "Start on explicit host" then maintain target host as your DB server hostname and Gateway host as your DB host and gateway service as sapgw<nn> where nn is the instance of gateway that you have just installed on your DB host server.
Confirm me if this is the case or not and do the changes as above. In case of error again do let me know the error and every filed value under Technical Settings for this RFC.
By the way, what is RFC full name? It should be SAPXPG_DBDEST_<DB Server Host name>
Regards
Javed
hi Javed,
i check my current SM59 there was SAPXPG_DBDEST_ in there at the first time, even i deleted the RFC the it still created automatically again, beside that i configure the SAPXPG_DBDEST_ like the option below
- Start On Explicit Host
- program = C:\usr\sap\P01\SYS\exe\uc\NTI386\sapxpg.exe
- target host = oracle (database hostname)
- start type of external program = default gateway
- CPI-C Timeout = Default Gateway Value
- Gateway Host = oracle
- Gateway service = sapgw00
i also try to copy RFC SAPXPG_DBDEST_ to SAPXPG_DBDEST_ORACLE and the result still the same.
RFC Test Result
Connection Test SAPXPG_DBDEST_ORACLE
Connection Type TCP/IP Connection
Logon 30 msec
Transfer of 0 KB 30 msec
Transfer of 10 KB 31 msec
Transfer of 20 KB 32 msec
Transfer of 30 KB 32 msec
Do you want us to guess the error?.... what user are you logged as?

Juan

but when i'm trying in Database Instance is working.
