Where to start for GRC upgrade?

I will soon be tasked with upgrading GRC 5.2 -> 5.3. I am an imbecile with regards to GRC. Can you point me to a document and/or give me a general understanding of what needs to be done? We are currently using Risk Analysis only and most importantly I do not want to lose the risks & mitigations already configured.

Please go to Service Marketplace and have a look at the upgrade guide.
If you're still in doubt, I'd suggest hiring an experienced consultant to make sure everything goes as planned.

My advise would be to upgrade to "novice" first by using the search... and then ask more specific questions later.
