Hil,
we have a 4.6c on W2K with Oracle 9. Our target Platform is Win2008. Our plan is to separate the instances, meaning to install the CI on Win2004x64 and to migrate the database to Win2008 / Ora 10.2.
Question: are there any restrictions for combinations of CI + DB-Instance? Win2008 is supported for Ora 10.2, but not for R73 46C/D. This should not make any problem since I don't want to install a R/3 kernel on the DB-instance?

Correct. You can install the database on Windows 2008 with Oracle 10 and the application servers on Windows 2003.
4.6c is very old, in customer specific maintenance so I'd highly recommend considering and upgrade in the near future.
