Hello,
We currently have a track for ESS in Production....now there are some new developments to be done ...as well as there will be some production issues to be fixed....how can we handle this situation with a single track.....? i read that we should use CONS (_C) project for Production issues and DEV(_D) for new developments......but we have configured CONS as our QA environment......so what is the best approach to deal this....?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Anil
Hi Anil,
with a single track this is not possible: in the case you describe you need at least three different source states (development, QA, patching/productive, and from my experince it's a good idea to separate patching and productive codelines, too). Since a track has only two source states (dev and cons), you need a second track. And likely you want to have track connections in both directions (a repair connection so that patches made in the second track can be easily transported back to the development track, and a forward connection so that new development can be brought to production from time to time).
Regards
Michael
