flat file loading

Hi all,

what are the errors commonly comes when loading data from flat file to bw. please send me scenerios under which the data will be loaded from flat file. please send me to this address : bbr_bw@yahoo.co.in

Hi bhasker,

general errors are:

1,error1: your file is open and same time you are uploading it

2,error4: any syntax of the file doesnot match your infobjects

3,date format is same as yor system format

4,sequence of tranfer structure should be same as with the fields of the file

5, correct path is to be given

hi

these are the errors may occur while loading the flat file

1.The file should be closed while scheduling

2.The file path mentioned in the external data tabpage of the infopackage is correct

3.Data in the file is in uppercase.You can also have the values for a particular characteristic in lowercase provided the lowercase checkbox in the general tabpage of the maintenance screen of the infoobject is checked.The same can be converted to uppercase using the TOUPPER() formula in the transfer rules.

4.Calendar day should be of the format yyyymmdd in excel file and DATS in Edit infocube menu if the timecharacteristic is used only for display purposes and no calculations are made on them .

5. the fields available in the flat file , transfer structure and the comunication structure should be same

6. the separator in the external data tab should be ',' if u keep ur flat file as a.csv one.

The following will avoid load failure.

Checking by opening in a notepad .

Clicking the "preview" button in the external data tabpage of the infopackage and using the simulation option to check if there is anything wrong with the data in the file.
