I'm on Phase 21 of 24 of NetWeaver 2004s install,
and I'm getting errors on the "Start Instance" step.
It errors out after ten minutes. Is there a way to change
the wait time to, say, 20 minutes? Is there a config file for this setting?
Here are the errors:
ERROR 2006-05-21 10:03:54
CJS-30149 ABAP processes of instance NSP/DVEBMGS00
[ABAP: STARTING] did not start after 10:00 minutes. Giving up.
ERROR 2006-05-21 10:03:54
FCO-00011 The step start with step key

start was executed with status ERROR .
I suppose I could try stopping at the error on Phase 21, reboot the PC,
and hope that the installer would actually start again on Phase 21, but
not having done this install continuation before, I'm not sure it would work.
We recieved these errors during the Startsap step of NW 2004s Central Instance installation. We logged in as sidadm to the box and executed R3trans -d and got 12505 error in trans.log. Checked the env variables and found that TNS_ADMIN was set to
SAPGLOBALHOST\sapmnt\SID\profile\oracle. We have copied the tnsnames.ora from \oracle\SID\102\network\admin and retried R3trans -d and it went through. Then we retried the installation and it worked.
I think it is a good idea to go through startsap logs to see what is actullay causing the startsap to fail.
Hope this helps.

I just kept clicking on <retry> until it worked.
I'd still like to know how to increase the timeout value.
