Linux Dialog Instance for SQLServer installations. Possible?

I have a Central System built on MS SQL Server.

I would like to add a Dialog Instance to the landscape using an available Linux Server.

Is this possible? Are Dialog Instances database dependent?

Is it true the MS SNAC must be installed on the Dialog Instance? I have looked at the PAM and checked the available media and am a bit confused. Initially I thought it would be possible, but it is looking like it is not.

As far as I know, this is not possible. The only databases that a Linux SAP instance can connect to are MaxDB, Oracle, and DB2 (both LUW and z/OS).

To connect a SAP system to a database you need

- a database client for the target database

- a database interface library for the system for the target database (lid_dbsl)

Both are not available on Linux so no, what you're trying to do is not possible.
