Blank Client Copy to recover space

Former Member

Dear Experts,

Please guide me for example I have a client 400 on my test machine. This client has huge transactional data of like 200 GB. If I copy a 000 client on client 400 through client copy it will delete transactional and master data from client 400. Will this space be shown on Oracle level or can I reclaim this space. Will the database size reduce. Please guide me on your experiences.

Regards

Hi,

you could do the following :

1) delete the cllient and then do a DB export / import. that would throw up the space

2)Go to db02 or db02old whichever SAP version you are on. Take note of your big transactional tables

do a client copy in 400 use SAP_ALL source client 000

. Then from your list of big tables from db02 Use brspace through brtools ->option 3 -> then option 1 do individual table reorgs.

Now option 2 will be restictive because you are not going to be able to reorg "long Raw" tables because of the DB version but it will throw up a load of space from the transactional tables.

Client delete from SCC5?

Does it give me space back i.e. will it free space in database.

As we know DB02 gives us report regarding free space.

Hi,

Yes client deletion by tx. - scc5.

Free space will reflect in DB02 ,after DB reorg.

Thanks

what about client overwrite as I mentioned in my starting post

Hi,

How will you over write client ?

with out db reorg , you should get free space reflected in DB02 as Database is 9.2 version.

If you are going to overwrite , then alos it will first delete the data and then it will write data of new client.

Thanks

Hi,

Deletion of 400 client and db reorg will help you to achive this.

Thanks

If you are going for a reorganization then you might like the link below

Just note after exporting a table , you need to truncate the content of that table before importing
