Sap mdm replaced ?

Hi all,

We all are aware that SAP MDM is more efficient tool to maintain Master data.

But what are the tools that industries used before MDM was in market?

It is very obvious that when you are implementing SAP MDM to any industry, we are actually replacing an existing tool with sap mdm for better performance. so the TO-BE architucture will contain sap mdm. can any one name some 'AS-IS' ones??

Hi Eva,

I understanding is like this,

Master data management is concept, which is there right from start but was not focused. Earlier we used to implement this concept by defining proper processes to create and then manage master data. Now this involved diffrent activities which was achieved with the help of diffrent applications like excel, MS access or some customised small application.

By implementing SAP MDM we are trying to achieve all this with the help of single tool which gives much more benifits than earlier methods So it depends on the existing business how they are managing Master data.

Hello Eva.

Data migration from one information system to another is oldest problem. Related data from different sources is the same.

Before SAP MDM - were only simple applications related different information from different information systems.

SAP MDM is not product only it is metodology and technology master data management whitch based on SAP

SAP MDM isn't replaced existing tools it only management master data from that tools
