Hi,

Refer to install guide for SAPP ECC6 on SQLserver and go to section 'Database requirements'...it clearly specify SQL server 2005/2008 Enterprise edition. It does not specify Standard edition, hence it is not supported.

and I suppose SAP does not support it because they do all their internal testing in Enterprise edition...otherwise they have to duplicate their efforts for all editions..

Mandeep

Dear Vincent

The links do not provide any information that I wanted.

It did not specified which version of SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise.

Thanks.

I do not see any specific restrictions on both Standard and Enterprise for SR3.

But recommended Enterprise version.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I still could not find any information from the SAP Note on whether SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition could be use for SAP ECC6.0 SR3.

I have fired an OSS to SAP but they claim this is a consulting question.

How frustrating!

Read [this|http://blogs.msdn.com/saponsqlserver/archive/2009/02/19/frequently-asked-question-why-do-we-need-sql-server-enterprise-edition-for-sap-netweaver-based-applications.aspx]. That might help.

Hi Everyone

After searching, it is confirm that SAP only supports SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition.

Please refer to this SAP Note 62988

Thanks.

probably it is the scalability reason that Enterprise version is tested instead of standard edition..

Enterprise Edition scales to the performance levels required to support the largest enterprise online transaction processing (OLTP), highly complex data analysis, data warehousing systems, and Web sites...etc

Standard Edition is data management and analysis platform for small- and medium-sized organizations.

In fact, SAP Business One did use SQL 2008 Standard Edition

www.service.sap.com/sbo-swcenter

- Software Distribution Center

- SAP Business One Products

- Installations

- MS SQL SERVER

- MS SQL SERVER 2008 STANDARD

for your case, Enterprise version is the one.

cheers,

Vincent
