Database Mirroring for SAP Business One

Dear All,

I have a question which love to seek for your advice:

Scenario:

Application : SAP Business One 2005A

Connection: Connect directly to SQL server

Database: MS SQL 2005, with mirrored database

Existing challenge:

In case the principle db server is down, it is proposed that user manually switch to mirror db by pointing to another SQL server path. However, the client would like to have some server side configuration for that instead of changing any configuration in workstation level

Note:

1. As the application is connecting the SQL server using both ip / server name AND instance name (ie. 192.168.0.10\server1), so even the mirror server take up the ip of the principle server, it cannot take up the instance name

2. The application do not support any clustering solution

Hi Andy,

I´m not a system administrator expert, but my advice is this:

Find where the last accessed database is stored on client PCs and see if it can be modified. Each SBO client saves it somewhere, and allways tries to connect again the same one. If the client is not succesfull shows the server selecting form, in order to choose another one.

I suppose it is stored somewhere in the windows registry.

Regards,

Ibai Peñ
