Hi Experts,
I have a simple scenario where flat file is picked up by FTP and need to send the data to sap.
So i shoulds go for file 2 IDOC scenario or File 2 Proxies.
The receiver system(SAP) supports Proxies.
Pls let me know the advantates of going with IDOC /Proxie adapter
Regards
Kiran
Hi Kiran,
If you have standard idoc and Process code available then go for IDocs
If you dont have them then go for Proxies.
If you use IDoc:
1. Easy to monitor
2. Less coding (if you have process code and idoc available)
3. Multiple IDocs can be triggered simultaneously
If you go for proxies
1. Coding is required
2. Multiple calls to proxies should be in order else if you are updating any table then the proxies might fail in R3 (because of the lock on table by some other instance of the proxy)
3. Doesn't require standard objects (like idoc etc)

Hi Kiran,
If you want to send the Flat file data to SAP ECC file system then only one option is writing Inbound ABAP Proxy.
If you need to convert this Sender Flat File data to Standard IDoc,then use IDoc Adapter.

Hi,
In this case check the data of the file to which it belomgs to .. i mean if it is orders then you can go for idocs as there is a standard process already available for the same ..in this case you have to reinvent the wheel if you want to go for proxy..
also you need to consider the volume of the data..before deciding
Also look in SAP if there are standard BAPI/RFC available for processing the same...
if your scenario wont meet above then look for porxy...
