email notification network workflow

hi experts,

plz could any one explaine the work folw(network diagram) for email from SAP to outlook notification .

for example when we send email from SAP to outlook user, is it the process like

*SAP Server -

internet------ email exchanger -

---

outlook*

or else

*SAP Server------ email exchanger -

---

outlook* .

The ICM also supports SMTP, so you can also have:

Client -

---

> Webservice -

---

> SAP server -

---

> (workflow----->) -

---

> Webservice -

---

> internet.....

> *SAP Server -

---

internet------ ...

Perhaps this is a PI question after all...

I don't quite understand your question... but sending a mail from SAP to an external/internal mail look more like....

SAP -

> SMTP Server -

---

> mail recipient.

if ur looking for Email notification setup from sap to outside world. First we need to configure smtp in SAP as per note: 455140
