Hi there,

System landscape means how many servers are there in your company's SAP setup & how they are manged.

Usually every SAP system will have the following servers:

Development server, testing server, Regression server (optional), Production server.

Development server: This may inturn have the below clients. It is not mamdatory that your system shoud have all of the below mentioned clients. It may / may not have all these.

Sandbox: this is where you setup all the required config. All of those may or may not be useful. You will use this as a rough work to see what all are the required configs for your project.

Golden box: This is where you will move all the actual required configs from sandbox. The settings in your golden box are the final settings.

Testing client: This is where you will do your unit testing. For eg when you complete all the required SD settings, you will do unit testing in test client.

Quality server: This will may inturn have the below clients. Pls note that it is not mandatory to have all these clients.

Testing client: This is where you do all your Integration testing & UAT (user acceptance testing). After you do the unit testing in development server, you will transport all the configs into quality server.

Training client: Thsi is where you will train all the business users.

Regression server: This is optional. After the business users signs off UAT, you will move all the configs into regression server to do regression testing. In this, you will make sure that your new configs will not effect the existing settings. Regression server is a replica of the production server.

Production server: After you have done all your testing, you will move your final configs into production. This is the server which the business users sue in day-day operations. You cannot change or do any test in this server.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Sivanand
