In promotion planning, if you have Total HIstory e.g. Base + Promotions, and you want to forecast separately, e.g. Forecast Base and Promotions separately. How do you reconcile the the forecast to come up with total history to release to SNP?
Planning Book One > Base History + Base Forecast
Planning Book Two > Promotion History + Promotion Forecast
Planning Book Three > Total History + Total Forecast
Question becomes when you choose a level to forecast, which Planning Book does the reconciliation of the forecast to different levels? I realize that this is a blueprint question, but I am looking for best practice, and minimize the manipulation of planning books by the Demand Planners.
Hi Joel,
I preassume that eventhough you had mentioned three different
planning books, in your scenario all these three planning books
will be pointing towards a single planning area for demand
planning.
In such case, the total history will be reconciled best by the
aggregaged key figure total forecast which is part of the third
planning book.
