Hi guys,

I'm freaking out because my organization just add Travel management piece into our implementation. I never done HR security I hope this travel management is not like HR because it is piece of HR module. Can any body please give me some information? is this same as FI/CO, MM, and SD or is it like HR. Any information is very helpful for please send any feedback regarding this Travel management piece I can create role using SAP menu for functional user and then I need to know how to do end user role. Please send any link, information or pornu2019s or cons about this piece.

Thank you so much in advance

Faisal

Hi Faisal,

SAPESS search will not give you a great deal of information - many of the 75 role have words such as process and business in them. I suspectyou may find more information in the SAP_FI_TRAVEL* roles, although transaction PR05 may also be of use.

In addition, webdynpro applications for travel expenses functionality, such as sap.com/ess~tra* service will need corresponding authorisations in the S_SERVICE object in the backend. These services are named as a concatenation of the application namespace and the application.

As to which model of authorisations would be most useful to you - infotype restrictions for additional payments can be configured in the standard profile generator roles for users' own personnel number, but I defer to more experienced Colleagues to recommend a preferred method and further reading material, but I can recommend some of the SAP Press books on the module.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Send your customer my sincerest condolences.

If you do a bit of research on your own and then ask a more specific question, then I will gladly help you.

Particularly the parameters exposed to the interface of these TM functions and the portal application persmissions are an interesting topic.

Cheers,

Julius

Have a look here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/b6/cda0db49e911d189060000e8322f96/content.htm

From experience of working on TM in the past, from a complexity perspective it is in between standard R/3 and HR. If you go in with an R/3 mindset and are really careful with all values you should be OK.

If you are not using HR then some of the fields will not be relevant which will make your job easier.

Thank you so much for your feedback Alex, We are not using HR at all then It won't be like HR security right. If it is standard Authorization objects maintenance and like FI/CO, MM then I'll not ahve to warrry about it if it has some HR Structure authorization then I need to get into HR security and I need to learn some of the HR Structure authorization.

Thanks for your feedback again

Don't panic too much, take a look into taking the HR 940 training. You should welcome the TM module implementation opportunity.

Hi Alex,

This thread I had created two to three weeks ago. You gave me some feedback and I started learning HR- TM piece of the project and so far I understood pretty much how the position security works. I need your input little bit more. Can you please give your input for the following question?

1) We will have portal front end using ESS, would you tell me what predefine SAP HR_ESS role do I have to see or analyze for connecting Portal (Front end ) and HR_TM (back end)? I searched for SAPESS it brought me 75 roles from the back end, any suggestion which one should I take a look and customize for ESS connection

2) We are not going to do full Travel management implementation, we are just doing Expense piece of it. Can you please recommend what route should I take; for example should I use Structural security, or authorization or Position base security?

3) is there any link or documentation where I can find more information about Portal security with HR_TM back end using ESS?

Always appreciate your help and input

Thanks

Faisal

Hi Faisal,

Portals & HR are not my expertise so I think I'll be of limited help here

1. Pass. There may be something in the documentation

2. This is entirely dependent on your requirements. When doing basic T&E I have never had to use structurals, only careful use of P_TRAVL with AUTHF/P/S and PERSA/G/K

3. Pass, I've not come across any before but to be honest I've not actively looked. Someone on here may have some useful links.

Thanks Alex,

Are you suing Position base security means are you creating role with the appropriate authorization objects and values and assigned it to position and that position has been linked to persannel master record. is that something you have done or recentally did?

What infotype did you use for Travel expense ? because there are 5 infotype (470 to 475) belongs to travel but none of them shows that its for expense so I'm not sure what infotype exactelly do we have to use for travel expense?

When it comes to transport to production only roles we need to transport or do we need to transport user assignment? or probably my question is Do we have to create mass user in productiion for the direct assignment ?

Always appreciate you input

Thanks

Faisal

HI Faisal,

Again this is very specific to your requirements, you may require infotype 0017, 0027, 0470- 0475.

It is also possible that you may require some level of read access of infotype 0105, 0001, 0002, 0003, 0006

You can also implement the structure authorization for exp assistance, however backend Exp admin authorization is challenge and depends on the requirements.

Thanks to all of you so much, I have read some documentation create some test structure and now I'm very comfortable doing HR plus Portal security using ESS/MASS

Thanks again

Faisal
