SAP Enterprise Portal Deployment of files

Former Member

Hi Friends,

I am new to SAPNetweaver. I had succesfully installed Netweaver after lot of hiccups. I want to work on PDK.NET

I am wondering how to deploy these two files to SAP Portal

1. com.sap.portal.dotnet.framework.sda

2. com.sap.portal.dotnet.services.systems.sda

Both files should be deployed to the SAP Enterprise Portal using

Software Deployment Manager (SDM).

and Secondly i want to know whether i need to install the SAP.Net connector to owrk with pdk.Net

Can some one help me in sorting out these issues.

Regards

Ram

Ram,

You only need the .NET Connector if you want to connect to the SAP Backend (R/3).

Hi Ram,

Have you done user mapping?

i.e Portal User should be mapped with the R/3 User.

For this you need to know the System name that you are using in the VS.NET.

Hope it solves your problem.

Hi Ram,

1. What is the question regarding the SDM? You need to run it, connect to the portal, and choose the deploy option and add both files. Did you have any problem doing it? You can take a look at the installation guide: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6807356c-0801-0010-7082-c00...

2. The SAP Connector should be installed on the same machines as VS and the PDK for .NET runtime component.

Hi Friends,

Thanks for the prompt replies. I had one more question.

i tried to access my portal site http:
localhost:8000 it is not working.

I came to know that this is the port only after running my webdynpro examples. i wondering how to kno what port i am accessing.

after installing the SAP Portal runtime for visualstudio 2003. it provided default port as 8050 i had changed it to 8000. but when i tried to start the server it is unable to connect to it.

Can someone tell what is my problem

Hi Ram,

The port you need is the NW (J2EE) portal's port (usually 50000, but could be anything you chose during the portal installation and configuration), which is NOT the port of the .NET runtime. Also, I noticed you wrote "localhost"... You should of course put the host of the portal, not that of where you installed the .NET runtime (I'm just assuming you didn't install the J2EE server on your machine...).

For better understanding, you should look at the overview of the PDK for .NET in the documentation.

especially this: <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/dotnet/pdk%20for%20.net/developer's%20Guide%20PDK%202.0%20for%20.NET/Getting%20Started/SAP%20PDK%20for%20.NET%20Overview/Run-time%20Environment.htm">Runtime</a>

There are configuration guides for the portal available here in SDN. Also you can try to ask in the portal forum.

Or just ask the person that installed the portal...
