Error installing 7.01 ABAP trial version, during step "start instance"

Hi,

I have installed 7.01 ABAP trial version on WINDOWS VISTA.

During the step 24/27 "start instance" I have this error:

Hello,

Go to work directory of your SAP system(/usr/sap/<SID>/D*/work) and check logs for dev_disp, dev_ms.

The computer name is not the issue. If I'm right, this is happening during the installation, correct? Please look through sapinst.log and sapinst_dev.log and post any error messages related to starting SAP. One thing to look at would be your user account permissions on the computer. You need to be a local admin, and the <sid>adm user and sapservice<sid> users need to be admins as well. There is also a sap localadmin group that needs to be members of the administrators group.

The problem was the file "host" :

in the file C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts enter:

<permanent IP address> <host name>

For example:

10.10.0.10 yourhost

I was forget to change it.

Thanks Andrea, this helped me a lot, i just uncommented the line with 127.0.0.1, then hit retry in the installation, it worked .

Try without using special characters like above in the computer/host name.

Check why system is not getting started ?
