SAPARCH directory 90%

Dear Basis Gurus,

In our SAP ECC 6.0 Prd Server the SAPARCH directory went upto 90%. We transfered the log files to a temp directory. We like to identify the cause of this. Our client wants to know why this happened ? What are the events for generation of arch logs.

kindly help.

most likely, a background job ran. check timestamps of these redologs and check which jobs were running in background during that time.

Is the question why the system generated so many logs or why saparch became 90% ??

Check the activity on the system and that would be the reson for the log generation.

Why 90%, Obviously the Archive job has not been set up/.

Rather than move suggest you run

Brarchive -n <Number of logs> so you dont lose the sequence of the logs being backed up.

Hi Sagar,

If your database is in archive log mode then it will definately generate archive logs. You should check whether your archive log backup is running or not ? If some heavy load is running on system then frequecy of archive log will be more.

P.S: While you move your archive log to some other destination then you should be aware that these archive will not backed up by archive backup.

Thanks

Sunny
