I wnader how to create DB statistics on a table with 170.000.000 records. I have 8 hour stime.
In DB20 what to choose. Do I have first to delete statistics?
Can I stop creation of statistic if it is not finished in 8 hours and how (I guess it will have serious impact on system if statistics runs during working hours)?
Hello Jan,
> In DB20 what to choose. Do I have first to delete statistics?
Why using DB20? Please use the BR*Tools for that. The tools are using an "algorithm" to determine the SAMPLE size for the statistic collection. The algorithm is described in sapnote #892296 - Point "9. Special support for very large tables (as of patch 27)".
It also depends on your database release, if you can use such small sample sizes, but this is also described in the sapnote.
