We have a Business objects system that is provided to us from a vendor via a remote-hosted solution using Citrix. The vendor has created a Universe for our use.
We would like a method to pull Metadata about the universe so that we know when new objects are added to the universe.
We've tried using Query Builder, but can't seem to get the information we need in a useable format
. Since we don't have direct access to the servers running the Business Objects application, is there any way we can get metadata about the universe?
Thanks.
We can pull the following metadata on the universes, using 'Activity' universe, when the BO auditing is enabled
- When the universe get changed, date and time.
- Who made changes to the universe
Ex:
Create a webi or Deski report using 'Activity universe'
- Select 'Object Name', 'User Name', 'Action Time' in result object pane
- Define a query filter as following
u2018Object Type' InList 'Universe'

David,
You might have some success in asking the administrator on the database server if he or she would be willing to create a view that accesses the "CMS_InfoObjects5" table to expose information. The exposed information could be part of another universe construct, and from there you could use BusinessObjects WebI to get the information you seek. Please go to the BoB forum and review the view proposed by contributor "marklee", using the below URL to get a perspective on the View that can be constructed to expose the data and move forward with your desire to get info on the meta data of your repository.
