Hi all,
After update patch level from 144 to 146, the system appear error when I start system:
"/usr/sap/PTS/SYS/exe/run/startdb: Terminating with error code 12
DB startup failed
"

SQL> select status from v$instance;
STATUS

Status of R3trans as below
sap-hn:ptsadm 4> R3trans -d
This is R3trans version 6.14 (release 700 - 14.02.08 - 14:55:00).
unicode enabled version
2EETW169 no connect possible: "maybe someone set invalid values for DIR_LIBRARY ('/usr/sap/PTS/SYS/exe/run') or dbms_type ('ORA')"
R3trans finished (0012).

Hi,
Can u check the status of database using sqlplus command " select status from v$instance"
if the status shows open , then pls check the status of R3trans check as below.
login with user sidadm & run the command "R3trans -d" if there is an error , the pls past the r3trans log file.

I using OS Linux 5.3, Database oracle 10.2.0.2, ECC6.0. I started listener. But when I start, I get error as below:

It happens when the exe file in run directory "strdbms.cmd" unable to start the DB,try to copy this exe file from your old kernel file and try to start your SAP
Hope you backup the original file before doing this activity

Check the status of you oracle lisener "lsnrctl status". If it is stopped, then start it manually "lsnrctl start",
if lisner is started stage already. Then try to start database manually. after that start sap . then see what error .

Theres not enough information here, beside that seems like you haven't done enough reading about kernel patches (I presume thats what you're up to).
