R3setup installation problem with Linux

Following is the detail of Installatinon.

Domain Name : testsap.in

Hostname : sapmail

Operating System : RHEL 4

Java Version : jre-6u16-linux-i586-rpm

R3SETUP : 20000704

Following is the error generated while installation of R3setup file on RHEL 4

ERROR 2009-09-29 15:20:38 GATEWAYINSTANCE_IND_IND SubstituteVariables:0

The official name of hostname sapmail is sapmail.testsap.in. Please

check your DNS configuration and insert an entry in etc\hosts.

ERROR 2009-09-29 15:20:38 GATEWAYINSTANCE_IND_IND ColdKeyCheck:0

Phase failed.

ERROR 2009-09-29 15:20:38 InstController Action:0

Step GATEWAYINSTANCE_IND_IND could not be performed.

ERROR 2009-09-29 15:20:39 Main

Installation failed.

ERROR 2009-09-29 15:20:39 Main

Installation aborted.

*Already host name is inserted in to /etc/hosts & DNS entry is already generated.*

unusual name and domain for an installation (I presume is a test)...

In any case check that the entry in the hosts file is complete....

XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX sapmail sapmail.testsap.in

Entry is already done in /etc/hosts and DNS but still the problem is continue.

Can you please let me know that did you ise the env variable SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME.

Please check that you have the entry in the /etc/hosts file correct ly.

you should have in this format XX.XX.XX.XX DNS Alias name.domain.com DNS NAme hostname.domain.com hostname.

where the XX.XX.XX.XX is the ip for the host.

Please also post me the error code that you are getting.

Both /etc/hosts check correctly and DNS entry is already there

SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME = sapmail which I had set after your reply. But still problem continue...

Can you please letme know that what installation your going for ,which phase are you in sapinst,is there ANY OTHER instance installed on this host and the sapinst.log so that i can make you out fo theis error.

Problem resolve by enter the following entry in /etc/hosts

IPaddress sapmail

Only
