Why it is needed (general idea/info)?
Thank You very much.

Hello,
After the installation, the SAP system is intended to support a specific business process, support a certian number of users.
When the SAP system starts, it picks up the configuration from the profile parameters present at the OS level in form of profiles..For eg:- No of dialog process, background process etc, which all depends on the business load on the system, user distribution on the system.
The parameters define the configuration of the system.Hence parameters are set according to the needs.
Other configuration would include certain things like groups, operation modes etc.Again it depends on the product you have installed.
Hope it helps.
thanks,
Prasanna

You can start with the below link
http://www.saptechies.com/setting-sap-profile-parameters/
By setting parameters you configure the system....you define system's behaviour by setting parameters.
For example if you set rdisp gui_auto_logout parameter to 3600 then after remaing idle for 60 mins or 3600 seconds SAP system will log you off automatically.
Then Login to SAP system.. Run transaction code RZ10. Select a profile ( viz instance profile). Display the parameters.
Then from RZ11, read the documentation of parameter.
