Check of Datafile and Logfile existance

Hello,

we added a new Datavolume to our Livecache in the directory of the SCM Database because there were no space left at LC directory.

The problem was, that a Datavolume with this name already existed and the LC wrote to this volume. So both databases were damaged. We had to recover.

It would be nice, if a database can check existing datafiles, if they are owned by another database.

Best Regards

Andreas

Just a quick addition:

The problem you described shouldn't have occured if the parameter SET_VOLUME_LOCK/UseVolumeLock would have been left to the default setting (YES).

Could you check what value the parameter has for the affected instances?

And do these files reside on local or NFS filesystems?

regards,

Lars

Hello,

the parameter is already set:

dbmcli -U c param_directget SET_VOLUME_LOCK

OK

SET_VOLUME_LOCK YES

Best Regards

That's interesting - so either the filesystem does not support locks or something else went wrong here...

Let's have a support message on that !

regards,

Lars
