Dimension of a PA

Hi,

I´ve got DP and I want to know a normal size of a POS and PA for the next questions:

How many characteristics?

How many key figures?

How long the initialization?

How many combinations?

Dear LCD

Just for an idea if you want to know my present client has 9 lakh CVC in a single planning area and the LC size is

280 GB. During implementation it was told by SAP itself that more than 5 lakh would be a risky affair in a single planning area.

Hi LCD777,

1. There is no SAP recommended values as such. But you can keep as

minimum as possible to avoid complexity, easiness in work, operation

effectiveness and easiness in trouble shooting. You can keep as much

between 75 to 100 including all planning areas which you are planning to

operate.

2. Performance improvement is based on the following factor.

a) Server Sizing

b) Livecache memory

c) Periodical data archiving

d) Periodical house keeping of logs

e) Periodical consitency checks

f) Periodical updation of support packs

Hi,

Specially for 1 Planning Area, How many combinations can one Planning Area support, so that it has a good performance?

I know that there is no fixed number, but can oyu please give me an estimation?

How many characteristics?

No of characteristics depends upon the business requirement

and you can have as many number as you want. But plan it

as many as minimum to maintain performance.

How many key figures?

In general, 40 are recommended.

How long the initialization?

The initialization period could be based on business requirement.

It can vary from 1 month to 10 years.

How many combinations?

You can have as many CVC's possible. In some companies, they

are having millions of CVCs loaded in their system

1. With how many characteristics should I be worry? Can you give me a number?

2. Hi...I see that you say millions of combiantions, I am just having 100000 combinatinations and it takes a long time to bring the data for the whole combinations and it also takes long when I begin to drill down? What can I do to improve performance?
