RFM in R/3 with BDC

Hey XI gurus,

I have an RFM in R/3, triggered by an external application to through XI, to create a business object...say an Premise.

My RFM contains a BDC within. Is it advisable to have this, in case of COMMIT/ROLLBACK scenes how will it react?

Please advice.

Ram

Satish,

The previous query one for a diff scenario.

Here i am trying to understand pros and cons of having a BDC inside a RFM. Is it allowed ? if so how will BDC(which has explicit commit), needs to be changed

Hello RAM,

You can have BDC code inside RFM. Yes it is allowed. If you dont have any posting function module / bapi you can code BDC inside RFC.

Basic problem which you can face is if you try to update multiple data ( for eg assume if you try to update Material data for same material) there is higher chances of getting lock error and posting can fail.

Also this process will be little slow.

Infact you can also write BDC inside Idoc posting function module if you dont have standard one or for customised idoc.

Hope this wll answer your query.

Cheers,
