How can we boost the use of Webdynpro....?

One of the issue seems to be the User licensing cost.

Companies feel its cheaper to use a 3rd party web application to capture details and just use a RFC/ IDoc/ File to push transactions into SAP, thus using only 1 SAP communications user, instead of 500 webdynpro (web) users.

Probably, SAP should think about the license cost for "Webdynpro only" users.

Any thoughts?

SAP does have such a user license, call the Platform User. Contact your account executive if you would like to discuss the details of such a user.

License agreements do vary from country to country and within individual accounts - but in general it is a violation of SAP license agreement to create a 3rd pary UI and call RFCs and Web Services and only use one user account for the service calls. All end users who interact with the application (even via service calls), need at least a plaftorm user license. However, due to the dynamic nature of license agreements, I would suggest that you discuss this in detail with account executive.
