Unit conversion with 0UNIT_MAT

I need sales statistics using a statistic unit of measure (atribute of 0MATERIAL) which is either the base unit of measure or the sales unit, so I need to convert i.e. order qty. in the BW system.

I have 2 doubts I will like to share.

First) What's the best place to do the conversion? Transfer rules or update rules. Initially I'm in favour of the transfer rules because no matter what the user want's to do later with the data, I will have it converted at an early step. i'm not doing at the datasource (in R/3) because the statistical unit is not informed in the R/3 system.

Second) I need to use the conversions available in 0MAT_UNIT to convert to the target unit. Has anyone written any code using it. I'm not a programmer and would appreciate some help here.

Alberto Sabate

Yes, you could do this conversion at transfer rule level and as posted you could check for more details in this link

SAT,

Pardon my lack of experience here, but I am trying to implement the conversion as described in the document you referenced. I am having difficulty creating the characteristic variable (page 11) for characteristic 0UNIT. This puzzles me because 0UNIT is not a characteristic, but a unit of measure in the content version.

Can you point me in the right direction?

Regards,

Kevin

Never mind, I found the place to create the variable.
