Hi All,
I have a question about merging records. Is their any way can I merge RECORD A into RECORD B. Because I donu2019t want to create new record.
Thanks
John.
I think 2 options
1. Merge records out side MDM and import
2. While import choose the option to merge if exist ( I'm not very sure abt this)

John,
We did face this sometime back. What we did was perform merging outside MDM (R/3, CRM etc).
One record gets marked for archive/deletion, while other gets the updated values based on merging in source system.

Hi John,
if you use MDM and have imported all the records into mdm server and you want to do the matching and merging there then there will always be a new record (and of course a new id) created. In your case:
Merge RECORD A and RECORD B --> the result is RECORD C containing of A and B (e.g. remote key information etc.).
If you don't want the the id changed then you probably need to introduce a new global_ID that remains the same when merging (only MDM ID changes).
Hope I could help!

Is their any work around going on for this?
Can i raise ticket to SAP reg this? Please advise me.
Thanks

Hi All,
I am really sorry if I didnu2019t make it clear.
Actually my requirement was, while merging two records it will create new record with new auto id. But I need to merge one record to another record that means RECORD A is going to merge with RECORD B then output will be still RECORD B. There will be no new record.
How could I achieve this?
Thanks.

Hi ,
Yes its possible, assuming these records are present in MDM.
1. Create rules and strategies based on key fields of your data model, which will help you in identifying duplicates.
2. Run this strategy by selecting RECORD A and RECORD B and MDM will assign scores to the record.
3. The higher the score the higher is the chance of record being duplicate.
4. Mark the check box for Record B and go to Merge record tab of DM.
5. Select the fields you want in the new record(B) from Record A and B.
6. Perform the merge action.
7. You'll see a single merged record now in DM.

Hi,
You can make use of Data Manager's Matching Mode to merge the records. Once records gets merged it will automatically create the new resultant record and delete the existing two.
In order to work with Matching Mode, you need Rules and Strategies based on which you can decide whether the records are identical and should be merged or not. Say for example RECORD A and RECORD B contains same description which indicates that records are identical then create one rule select Description as the matching field, create one strategy and pass the rule name, now execute this strategy by selecting both the records. If description is identical then you will get the high score and you can merge the records.
Refer MDM reference guide to know more about Matching Mode

Hi John,
Only after record gets into MDM (created) you can merge the records. You need to explain the scenario with little more detail to answer your question correctly
