With ID based reports, we recieve email alerts indicating a user has logged on to a firefighter account and then we also receive a log showing which transactrions the user has executed. Are there any type of alerts emailed to the controllers when a user executes the extended access which is given to them in the firefighter role? If yes, is this based strictly on the tocde which the user executes?

Nope. When the background job runs, it sends a log to the controller, if it's been configured to do so. No notification is sent at the time the role is assigned or otherwise used.
